We've Got Our Cover!

So, no, we didn't get it changed (yet). And, I'll admit it: I was thisclose to giving up, but I've suddenly got a new burst of enthusiasm. Why? Because we've got the cover! The cover that we want to be the cover of the DVD. It's...amazing. It was designed by DarkWaterOfAPoisonousWell from the ABC Message Boards. She's still finalizing the design, but this is pretty much what it will look like. So, our new plan of attack? Print out hundreds of copies of this cover and mail them to Disney Home Entertainment (address below). E-mail Disney Home Entertainment with a link to the cover to show them what we really want. Notify (but, please, DO NOT bombard) DVD sites that we have a cover that we want, so maybe they can pass it along, or post it on their site for more feedback. So, basically, we'll be bombarding Disney all the way around so we can hopefully get it changed.
DHE's address is here:

That's the phone number too, if you'd like to call and let them know vocally about the cover. And, of course, keep signing the petition! This is NOT over yet!

You People Need to CALM DOWN

This is a message to all of you anonymous commenters that have been posting on this blog. You guys need to calm the hell down. I get it. You think that starting a petition to get a DVD changed is retarded. But...guess what? It really is a big deal. It may not seem like it, but it is. If we have to spend $60 or more on it, it better look damn freaking good. It could also determine whether or not someone who was borderline or didn't like Season Three was going to buy the DVD. Take this for example: Fans of The OC were extremely pissed when the artwork for their Season Four set was released, so they bombarded sites and complained, and guess what? Warner Bros. changed it, making the fans very happy. Now, when the DVD was released, they released a special "limited edition" at Target with the fan-hated artwork (however, it included an extra disc for another $5). And the die-hard fans who love the show and want that extra disc? They wouldn't buy the limited edition set because they hated the artwork. This is our DVD, our money, and it's going in our house. Why not be happy with the way it looks? If you think we have better things to do, then what the hell are you doing here posting that we have better things to do. You're a hypocrite. I'm truly sorry if this message seems mean, but I'm just trying to explain to you that what we're doing is not stupid or wasting time. And, honestly, those comments piss me off. So get over this. This "waste of time" is happening no matter what you commenters post. We've got over 250 signatures and steadily growing, so we're doing just fine without you. Now you go have fun doing something that isn't a "waste of time."

More Good News!

The feedback forms on the Disney DVD site are working! Someone else got another e-mail back from Disney today - here's what they said:
Laura,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns about a possible DVD cover. We value your interest in Buena Vista Home Entertainment DVD's and we love to hear the opinions of our viewers. We will forward your comments to our
Marketing Department for their review.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reply to this email. You may also contact us at 800 477-2811 (Canada: 888 877-2843), Monday 9:30-7:30 and Tuesday through Friday 9:30-6:30 CST.

Sincerely,

Buena Vista Home Entertainment Consumer Relations
So, you can also call the number above (800-477-2811) to complain about the cover art! Fill out the form here and do not forget to sign the petition here (now at over 140 signatures)!

Comments Fixed

Sorry...we keep asking you guys to post comments but our setting made it so that only Blogger users could post comments! However, we fixed the settings and now anyone can post comments. Calling Disney, writing Disney, and signing the petition all help GREATLY, but posting lots of comments here too will also help, as the link for this site has been sent to the reps at Disney Home Entertainment. Let the posting begin! And also, do not forget to sign the petition HERE. Over 135 signatures in less than 24 hours and growing! And 135 signatures times $60 per DVD equals $8100...that's a lot of money! Come on Disney, let's get this artwork changed! It's our DVD.

Petition!

We figure a petition might do some more good than just complaints, so we opened one! If you're hell-bent on getting the crappy artwork changed, then go right here and sign the petition to get the artwork changed! And pass the link along!

It Actually Works!

Apparently filling out this form at the Disney DVD website actually might help - Lisa left this comment on Grey Gossip to let us know that Disney e-mailed her back:
Lisa,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns about cover art. We value your interest in Walt Disney Home Entertainment Movies and we love to hear the opinions of our viewers. We will forward your comments to our Marketing Department for their review.

Regards,
BVHE Consumer Relations
So maybe that will actually help! Keep calling and definitley sign the petition - if you hear back from Disney/BVHE then let us know!

The Beginning! Get it Changed!

We're starting a campaign! What is it? Well, it's to get the craptastic Season Three DVD Cover Art changed. See what it looks like to the left [click on it for a bigger picture]. It's...nice. OK, who are we kidding? It's terrible and just barely matches our season one and two sets! So, what are we setting out to do? We're setting out to get it changed because, well, we're the ones who have to live with the DVD everyday....the ones who have to stare at it on our shelves everyday. Anyways, ABC should care what we think! The better the cover art, the more likely they are to sell more copies. So, want to know how to get it changed? Here's what to do:
  • Go to this website and fill out the form explaining that you are talking about the Grey's Anatomy Third Season DVD and that you are unhappy with the cover art. Be explicit in your details and that you are talking about the THIRD SEASON.
  • Or, you can call 1-800-477-2811 and complain to the people directly at Disney.
You should write something along the lines of this (it doesn't have to be exactly the same, obviously, and DO NOT copy and paste it - write your own):
Hey there! Pretty much, I'm complaining about the Grey's Anatomy Complete Third Season Cover Art. It's...well...terrible. Why are they using promotional photos and not "caps" like on the last two covers? And some of those promos are like two seasons old! There's too much blank space behind the title - why not put Seattle behind it like on Season Two's cover? And why just "Season Three?" Put "The Complete Third Season!" It just needs to be changed, ABC. Please fix it - I speak for most fans when I say this. It's our DVD! Thank you.
Not just one person can change this - we need a huge out-cry, and only you and us can help us. Let's get this changed! It's our show, our DVD, our money! Let's be happy with it! So start complaining! Once you've sent your e-mail, come comment this post and let us know!

COMING SOON!
  • Mock-ups of what people think the cover should REALLY look like.
  • Progress on how things are going.
  • and more!
UPDATE!
  • Here's one of our friends' mock-ups of what she thinks the DVD should look like! We still think the DVD should use screencaptures like the previous two covers though, and not promotional photos. But, with a professional touch, this cover would definitley turn out better than the one that Disney created!
  • TVShowsonDVD.com asked us to remove their info. They have gotten tons of e-mails on the situation and can't deal with the volume of them. Apparently, they don't have a good contact at Disney.
